The King and I is an excellent example of how much the FDS Labs process can improve on a movie mixed for 5.1 surround. Subtle details in the music and dialogue are brought to life with the process. Reviewer Guido Henkel took note of these advantages in his review of the DVD. The soundtrack "has a very natural balance throughout...", noted Henkel. He continues, "The spatial integration...is very good and makes generous use of the split surrounds. Dialogues are very well produced and come across clear and understandably at any time."

The clarity that the FDS Labs process brings to the soundtrack is apparent throughout this film. Henkel wrote that "The orchestral score is crystal clear and so are the voices, bringing the classics many of us grew up on to a new glory." He also sums up the overall sound of the movie, stating that "There is a transparency to the soundtrack that is simply amazing, and very hard to describe."
