All New Surround Sound for Standard CD

Quad Teck Digital in Los Angeles is encoding 5.1 mixes into "4+" onto standard CDs, which will play back on any Dolby Pro Logic™ or two-channel stereo system.

This encoding is done by down mixing a 5.1 surround mix through the FDS Labs processing system. The result is a two-channel mix that has amazing improvements in clarity and definition with incredible rear channel content when played on a Pro Logic™ surround sound system. Now record companies can offer surround sound for Pro Logic™. Meanwhile, as the industry waits to see which of the new formats (DVD, DVD-Audio) lasts for music, those who own one of the 52 million Dolby Pro Logic™ amplifiers out there (along with a standard CD player) can enjoy great surround sound.

The result is improved clarity, greater rear channel bandwidth and much more information in the rear channels than ever available with Pro Logic™. All of this, on a standard CD, rivals the original 5.1 surround mix. Engineers who have heard the result of encoding some of their 5.1 surround mixes for "4+" are excited. It brings Pro Logic™ to life!

Quad Teck Digital is currently using this process for compilation albums and music production libraries.

This process is available only at Quad Teck Digital using the FDS Labs processing system.
