FDS Labs processing has the capability to make discrete 5.1 mixes from a two channel source. This processing was applied to the film Stay Tuned and has received amazing response from critics. In his review for www.dvdreview.com, Mike Long commented that the "surround sound action is abundant." The ability of the FDS system to make a discrete 5.1 from two channel also results in very focused dialogue in the center channel. Long noted that "The audio is well balanced and the sound effects never drown out the dialogue."

In addition to the abundance of information brought out by the FDS Labs processing system, the overall quality of sound is superb. Long wrote that "every note [in the score] comes out very crisply..." These kind of details are what make the FDS process stand out.
